Mommy Joy: A Mother’s Sacrifices and Triumphs
Writing this memoir was another way by which I can keep my mother’s legacy alive, celebrate the influence of her kindness, and demonstrate how the efforts of one good person can be life-changing.
The Gaudy and Joy Charitable Foundation Inc. helps students in both the U.S. and the Philippines acquire the education and skills needed to achieve life-long success.
The Foundation strives to raise funds in order to support technical-vocational, academic, extra-curricular and after-school programs of schools, especially schools in poverty-stricken areas.
The children and adults that we serve are in peril. In the U.S., our students face the risks of gun violence on a daily basis. In the Philippines, students face extreme poverty and are at the mercy of corrupt local government and the all too frequent natural disasters in this area of the world.
Without help, they face difficult futures and will most likely perpetuate the cycle of poverty, underachievement and despair. You can help them acquire the education, learn professional and social skills, and gain the hope needed to overcome these daunting obstacles to achieve long-term success.
Nearly 8,000 students have graduated from CITFI equipped with the skills needed to secure jobs locally and abroad. Our schools in the Philippines focus on skills development that results in sustainable jobs like: computer engineering, electronics engineering, computer programming, computer hardware servicing, technical teacher education, automotive servicing, bartending, commercial cooking, massage therapy, food and beverage servicing, housekeeping, caregiving, and driving.
Gaudy and Joy Charitable Foundation believes in the importance of using chess as a tool to develop one’s critical thinking and strategic planning skills. It believes in giving students a chance to be properly supported to be able to participate in tournaments, a chance to apply and display their potential for success in life. Chess provides the important lesson to think first before you make your move. As in life, every move one makes in chess has a consequence.
